SMITH, NEVETTA "NETA" AGNES

Nevetta Smith passed away on February 7, 2016 at the grand age of 88 years.
Nevetta is survived by her son Purdy (Lee Ann) Smith of Calgary; step-son Graydon Lee Smith II (Barbara) Zanyk of Louisiana; grandchildren Anathea Brandy Thomas, Graydon Lee Smith III Zanyk, and several great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Graydon Lee Smith, and son Cody Garland Smith.
Nevetta was known for her interest in politics, current events and sports. Family and friends dearly miss phone calls from her to let us know about the latest news event or game coming on TV that we shouldn’t miss. Prior to marriage, Nevetta taught school in Newcastle Bridge, Deer Island and Rothesay, New Brunswick, and Saint Eustache, Quebec. In the summers, she furthered her studies in home economics at Syracuse University in New York. Nevetta moved to Calgary in 2000, after many years in Saint John, New Brunswick.
The family is grateful for the excellent care Nevetta received at Carewest Sarcee. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. A memorial service will be held in Saint John in the Spring.
