Rodney Ralph Gorveatt

The family of Rodney Ralph Gorveatt, age 78 of Amherst are saddened to announce his passing on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center, Upper Nappan.
Born in Tidnish, NS he was a son of the late Arnold and Frances (Briggs) Gorveatt.
Rod loved country and bluegrass music and was a fantastic musician, he enjoyed playing the mandolin, guitar and banjo.
He was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time in outdoors.
Rod was a man of many talents, he made many reproductions of antique furniture for family members.
Rod will be sadly missed by his wife Barbara (Tower) (Sprague), one son Michael (Jacqueline) Gorveatt of Cobourg, ON, four step children Bradley (Sandi) Sprague, Michael (Tara) Sprague and Debra (Ray) Phee all of Amherst and Arthur Sprague of Dartmouth, two grandsons Aiden and Ashton, eleven step grandchildren Kara, Angela, Jacklyn, Katie, Amber, Sarah, Courtney, Alex, William, Aleah and Justin, one sister Shirley (Bob) Burgess and one niece Terry.
Besides his parents, Rod was predeceased by son Rodney Jr. and daughter Kim Gilmore.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral at 2 p.m. all in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-9906) with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating.
Interment will be held in the Riverside Cemetery, Tidnish.
Memorial donations in Rod’s memory may be made to the Cancer Assistance Fund.
