Of St. John's passed peacefully away February 26, 2016, aged 86. Predeceased by wife of 58 years Hettie, Father of Donna (Dr. Chris Cox), and Chris (Marlayne Smith), Grandfather to Mark, Matthew, Katie and Joel, Brother to Madeline Hall (Andrew), Brother-in-law to Robert Pelley (Fran), Olive Hardy, Russell Trenholm, Cousin, Uncle, Great Uncle and Great Great Uncle to numerous nieces, nephews; and special friend and neighbor to those in the communities in which he lived, Hant's Harbour, Port Aux Basques, Gander, White Point Labrador, Corner Brook, Florida, St. John's. He is predeceased by his parents Herbert and Ethel Hardy and siblings, spouses and in-laws Jim (Winnie), Bert, Reginald, Dorothy, Phyllis (Stan), Gerald, Betty, Hilda (Selby). The family will be holding visitation at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave. Sunday, February 28 from 7pm to 9pm and Monday February 29 from 2pm to 4pm & 7pm to 9pm. The funeral ceremony will take place Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church, Craigmillar Ave. at 11am, followed by inurnment at St. Peter's Cemetery in Upper Gullies. An early technology pioneer working with wireless communications a lifetime before cell phones existed, sending dots and dashes from his Marconi Office at Signal Hill. A community minded person involved in the St. Mary's Men's Service Club, Masonic Tasker Lodge, SONRA (V01DL), and the Sea Side Seniors Club in Hant's Harbour). A faithful gentleman who loved the simple things in life - family, friends and the great outdoors. We mourn his passing and celebrate his life.
