We, the family of the late Gordon Howell, express our sincere appreciation and thanks for the acts of kindness, generosity, and friendship shown to us during his illness and passing Jan. 11, 2016. Thank you to our family and friends, co-workers and neighbours, who brought food, flowers, cards, Mass offerings, memorial donations and messages of concern and sympathy. Thank you to Rev. Nick Philips, your words of comfort and guidance were so appreciated. Thank you to the organist and choir of Carmen United Church, the pallbearers, Liam, Robert, Garf, Nicky, Cory and Greg, reader Jean MacDonald and Patrick Cashin for the ‘true to form’ eulogy. Thank you to the firefighters for the walk by and honour guard, it meant a lot to us. Special thanks to the Sydney Mines Pensioner’s Club for the beautiful lunch and reception. Thank you to Jim and staff at Fillmore Whitman Funeral Home. Your attention to detail and kindness allowed us to grieve with our friends and family in comfort and without worry. Thank you to Dr. John Ritter and Cathy MacMillan, RN, in teaching us how to help our loved one pass at home with dignity. Special thanks to Dr. Michele McKeough and Louise McKeough for your care and support over the years. Thank you to the VON nurses for your help and support in fulfilling dad’s wish to stay at home.
