HUBBARD: On Monday, February 29, 2016 George Raymond Hubbard passed away at his residence, Fairview Home, Brandon. Born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia on July 5, 1920, he was the son of the late William and Emilia (Connolly) Hubbard. George "Hub" Hubbard is survived by several nieces and nephews from coast to coast in Canada. The last survivor from a family of twelve, George was predeceased by brothers Donald, George (infancy), Johnny and Robert; sisters Marjorie, Angelina, Beatrice, Jeanette, Madlen, Gladys, and Pauline. Uncle Hub had various jobs in Yarmouth, before joining the military. After returning from the war, Hub worked briefly in Labrador, but soon decided to come to Manitoba to be near his sister. He loved working as a roofer for Cumming and Dobbie but didn't like the seasonal work. He finally got hired on at Shilo where he spent twenty-five years. After retirement, Hub moved to Nova Scotia briefly, but didn't enjoy the weather, so he returned to Manitoba. He was a sixty year member of the Brandon Legion. Playing cards and going to bingo were favorite pastimes. He loved coin collecting and at one time had a great collection of Bradford Exchange plates. He will be sadly missed.
