Daniel Banks

Banks, Daniel Leroy (Barrelman)
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Danny, Husband of Barbara Steever-Banks, on March 2, 2016 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital.
Danny was born and brought up in Barkers Point where he resided until (as his mother said) he moved “way” over town when he and Barb married in 1983.
Danny was the youngest child of Raymond and Mae (Clark) Banks. Besides his wife Barb, he leaves behind his sisters Joan (Pat), Betty (Jim Deceased) White, Barbara (Dave Wilson), his brothers, Bill (Gayle), Doug (Nora) Ken (Maryella), mother in-law Marie Steever, her children (Barbs Siblings) Sheila (David deceased), Billie (Paulette), John (Mabel); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; his aunts, Bea Meisner, Joyce Gilks and Pearl Banks. He was predeceased by his parents Raymond and Mae Banks, sister Carol, brother Larry and father-in-law Joseph Steever.
Danny’s career was in sales (you name it, he sold it). His nickname Barrelman was given to him by his ball team (RCAF) when he sold Barrel Furniture. For ten to twelve years he travelled the province selling yellow page advertising. Before retiring he was self-employed buying and selling used restaurant equipment.
Danny loved all sports. School years it was track and field and soccer. Later league bowling, league baseball, golf and racket ball. He was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan. More recently he kept track of his brothers Larry’s grandson Jake Allen (Goalie) for the St. Louis Blues. He participated in many fun golf tournaments especially with Mike Jardine’s gang. He won the famous lime green jacket (3 sizes too small) in one tournament.
Danny loved to travel to Florida almost every year, spending 3-4 weeks and to Hampton Beech almost every summer. His mother-in-law Marie will miss the day trips to various places around the province, Sunday drives, weekends to Bangor and for the last few summers a trip to Bar Harbour.
He will be dearly missed by his wife Barb, Barb’s family and all his brothers, sisters and their families.
Visitation will be held at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Saturday March 5th, 2016 from 2 to 4 PM. There will be no funeral service by request. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
After surviving pancreatic cancer for 5 1\2 years, the family requests that in lieu of flowers remembrances be made to the pancreatic cancer society, a charity of your choice or do a good deed for someone.
