It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Cecil Eric George Butler, Glace Bay, on March 2nd, 2016 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Cecil was born in Reserve Mines to the late Uriah and Margaret (Wiseman) Butler. Cecil was self-employed at Butler's Upholstery in Glace Bay, where he spent much of his time building in his workshop, a place many came to visit and share in good memories.
Dad was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and over the years was an active supporter of the Salvation Army and donated many hand-crafted boats to different family members, friends and organizations.
Cecil spent many years at Mira River Water Park camping with his wife June and their two grandchildren, along with his many close friends.
Cecil is survived by his son, Kenneth (Kathy); sisters, Alma, Marjorie and Gertie; brother, Wilson (Georgina) and one granddaughter, Danielle (Scott) Maskell, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, June; grandson, Trevor; brother, Will; sister, Laura and Jimmy Wiseman.
Visitation for the late Cecil Butler will take place Sunday, March 6th, 7-9 p.m., and Monday, March 7th, 10-11 a.m. at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay with funeral service following at 11 a.m. in the Chapel. Burial at Greenwood Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
