Olive (Stevens) Hulford

Date de naissance : 16 mars 1930

Date de décès : 3 mars 2016

The children of Olive Louise (Stevens) Hulford of Sydney River wish to share the news of the peaceful passing of our dear mother on Thursday, March 3, 2016; her loving son Tom was at her side.
Olive was born in Sydney on March 16, 1930; she was the daughter of the late Naomi (Pitcher) and Benjamin Stevens.
Olive was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. In her early years, she worked for the 'Telephone Company' and Woolco department store and spent many years as a stay-at-home mom. Our mother was an expert seamstress, quilter, and baker; she loved exercising, gardening, camping, bowling, playing darts and curling with our dad. A long time member of the Sydney River United Protestant Church, mom was past-president of the United Church Women’s UCW Guild.
Olive is survived by her devoted children Catherine (Reg) Johnston, Glace Bay, Thomas 'Tom' B. Hulford, Howie Center and Janis (Cliff) Seville, St. Albert, Alberta and her brother John (Olga) Stevens, Sydney. She was very proud of her grandchildren Erin Johnston (Darren Sillers), Alison Johnston (Chad Greaves), Taya (Chad) Alexander, Curtis Seville, Justin Seville, Jay-Anne (Greg) Trela, Chrysten (Ken) Jennings, all of Alberta; Ryan Hulford and Thomas W. (Andrea) Hulford of Halifax and 10 great-grandchildren in Alberta. She is also survived by her honorary daughter Mary Doncaster, her very special companion George Anderson and several nieces and nephews.
Our mother was predeceased by our dad, her loving husband of 55 years, George T. Hulford in 2005, as well as her parents and mother and father-in-law Annie (Baxter) and George W. Hulford. She was also predeceased by her dear sisters Marion (John) Sheppard, Lillian (Ralph) Frost, Eva (Lloyd) MacPhail and Marie 'Queenie' (Donald) Morrison, two sisters in infancy, Muriel and Evelyn Stevens, brothers George (Millie) Stevens, Donald Stevens, Harold Stevens and sister-in-law Margaret 'Peggy' (Douglas) Farquharson. Mom was recently predeceased by her best friend, Betty MacIntosh.
Special thanks are extended to the staff of the Cove Guest Home for their wonderful care of our mom.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service and celebration of our mother’s life will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations can be made to the United Protestant Church, Sydney River UCW Guild or the Cove Guest Home.
Words of comfort can be sent to the family at www.sydneymemorialchapel.ca or e-mail sydneymemorialchapel@ns.sympatico.ca.
And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever. Rev. 21:4
