ROY, LORRAINE
It is with sadness that we announce the death of Lorraine A. Roy (ne Savoie) wife of the late Orien Roy, Miramichi. Born in Tracadie-Sheila she was the eldest child of the late Clovis and Marianne (Mazerolle) Savoie. She died at the age of 97 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by brothers Homer, Hector, Gerald, Eric, Clifford and Herbert who died as an infant. She is also predeceased by sisters Aurea Godin (Norman), Regine Breau (Alyre), Astrid Leclerc (Claude) and Anita Savoie. Lorraine was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Lorraine is survived by daughters Jacqueline Roy-Patterson (Richard), Miramichi and Francine Roy-Charron (Charles), St. George, two grandsons Adam Patterson, Halifax, NS and Justin Charron (Jenna Hazelton), Saint John, sisters in law Antonia and Ruby and many nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was a member of Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church.
She was a life time member of The Miramichi Hospital Auxiliary. She volunteered at the Miramichi Food Bank and with Meals on Wheels along with her husband Orien. Lorraine also was a supply teacher for the former School District 8 and volunteered her time as a French Tutor for many years. She also worked at Estey’s Fish and Chips. She was an excellent homemaker who prided herself in feeding anyone who came to visit. She loved to quilt, crochet, garden and play cards. She was never idle.
Mrs. Lorraine A. Roy is resting at Davidson’s Funeral Home, 597 Old King George Hwy, with visitation on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 10th, 2016 at 2 pm at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church with Father Tom Fowler officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Saint Mary’s Restoration Fund, Saint Mary’s Cemetery Fund or a charity of one’s choice.
