BRANSCOMBE, WALTER W.
The family of Walter Wesley Branscombe, are saddened to announce his passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Friday, March 18, 2016 at the age of 83. Walter was born at Hampton, NB on June 20, 1932, a son of the late Wesley and Daisy (Ferris) Branscombe.
Walter was a faithful and dedicated member of the Free Presbyterian Church in Maugerville, NB.
He will be best remembered as the Owner and Operator of the Cabin Restaurant on Woodstock Road, Fredericton, which he operated for many years alongside his wife Erna. Walter was an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays and from 1962 – 1968 he played Softball with the Fredericton General Dairies Team. Walter also served with the R.C.M.P (Auxiliary) in Fredericton for a number of years.
Water leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, the former Erna E. Pedersen. Walter was a much loved father to daughter, Judy Sampson (Neil) of Durham Bridge, NB and a cherished grandfather to their children, Sarah, Jessica, Selena and Micah; also a much loved father to son Michael Branscombe (Gail) of Durham Bridge, NB and a cherished grandfather to their children, Jennifer and Laurie. His 10 great-grandchildren always held a special place in his heart, Briana, Jordan, Ava, Rese, Evan, Claire, Maverick, Lia, Michael and Sam. Walter also leaves behind a sister, Dorothy Smith (Jack) of Titusville, NB and a brother, Lloyd Branscombe of Nashwaak Villa, Stanley, NB; several nieces and nephews.
Aside from his parents, a sister, Marion Ritchie and a brother, Charles Branscombe predeceased him.
Friends are invited to visit with the family at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Tuesday evening, March 22 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A service celebrating the life of Walter Wesley Branscombe will be held from Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Doug Moore officiating. Interment in New Denmark, NB at a later date.
