Karen Ann LeDrew

Lieu de naissance : Sydney

Lieu de décès : Whitney Pier
Date de décès : 20 mars 2016

"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, we would walk side by side through life, but when I needed you the most‎, I saw only one set of footprints in the sand. The Lord replied, "I love you and would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."
‎It is with heavy hearts (and of course lighter smiles) that we announce the sudden passing of our beautiful and beloved Earth Angel, Karen LeDrew.
Karen was released from her body on Sunday, Mar. 20, 2016 at home, when she took her final breaths of the life she was (and still is) so passionately in love with.
Touching down on Earth in Sydney, Karen was the daughter and light of the late Seaward and Nellie MacLean‎.
At the time of her passing Karen was penning a memoir, more fervent and eager than ever to share the story of her personal revelations in both her Spiritual journey and courageous life adventure.
Karen was born an uplifter and is a teacher to her core. She will forever be remembered for her comedic and contagious life affirming Spirit, her enlightening smile, her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ and what has come to be recognized as her personal and appropriately coined slogan of inspiration... "Smile. Smile. Smile‎."
Those who've been blessed to have shared time with Karen, however short or long, are undoubtedly left with indelible impressions of her love, strength, courage, faith, spontaneity, humour and above all else her unmistakable embodiment of joy.
Karen’s passion is sharing her faith in both written and spoken word and teaching unconditional love through humour, impeccably timed wisdom and heart hitting poetry. She did this with daily sharings online, many personal letters and journals, lots of (long distance) phone calls... and of course over many coffees in person.
Karen lives on and will be forever celebrated in the daily lives of her children whom she is more proud of than words could ever describe, Thomas LeDrew (her Rock), Kyle MacLean (her little big boy), Daniel MacLean (her Angel), David MacLean (her #1 son), twin beauties, Shelly and Sheila MacLean (Mamma's baby girls); her beautiful grandchildren, Jeremy, Jacob, Brandon, Johnathan, Alyssa and Emma; her great-grandchild, baby Eli; her big sisters, Margie Hollohan, Wanda Murrin, Kimberly, Debbie Pratt, Nancy Aboud; baby sister, Sherry; big brothers, Fraser MacLean and Dougie MacLean; many beautiful nieces, nephews and godchildren, Valerie and Chantel; as well as the many friends whom she has touched in her short time with us.
Karen joins her late husband, Gordon ‘Bucky’ LeDrew and grandson, Justin, in eternal life.
Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Karen Ann LeDrew will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Tuesday, Mar. 29, 2016. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. with service to follow at 1 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Light refreshments will be served in the reception area following the service. Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
Donations in memory of Karen may be made to Cape Breton Mental Health Foundation.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
Online condolences may be forward to the family at www.pierfuneralhome.com.
