CAMERON, EUGENE WAYNE "GENE"
With sadness, the family of Gene Cameron announce his passing which occurred at home in Saint John on Sunday, March 27, 2016. Gene was born in Saint John April 18, 1943. He is the son of the late Donald and Emily (Bernard) Cameron. Gene is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Judy (Doyle) Cameron of Saint John.
Gene was a meat cutter by trade and worked for Dominion Groceries stores and owned and operated his own business “Cameron’s Meats”. He also worked for the Irving Oil Refinery Security at Gate 8 for many years, retiring in 2008. He was a member of the St. Mary’s-St. Bartholomew Church and the Adanac Club; enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a devoted family man who adored his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spending time with family and friends. He was a talented cook and was very good at BBQ’s.
Gene is survived by his wife Judy of Saint John; daughters Sharon Letourneau (Mike) of Sussex, Shelly Mitchell (Carl), Cheryl McConkey (Brock) and Tammy LaVorgna (Daryl) all of Saint John; brothers John (Janice) of Grand Bay-Westfield and Carl (Shereen) of Saint John; sister Carolanne Earle of Rothesay; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews; canine companion Mandy and many friends.
Besides his parents, Gene was predeceased by his son Robert “Bob” Cameron and daughter Christa Wisted.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, and (646-2424). By request there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held from St. Mary’s St. Bartholomew’s Church, 646 Westmorland Road on Thursday March 31st, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Followed by a reception. Private family interment at Ocean View Memorial Gardens at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Parkinson’s Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
