HURLBURT, Roy Hartley - age 74 of Brazil Lake, Yarmouth Co., passed away on March 24, 2016 at home with his family by his side. Born in Yarmouth, N.S. on August 22, 1941 he was a son to the late Ralph and Margaret (Atwood) Hurlburt. Roy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who loved his family dearly. Known to be a hard worker he worked in forestry all of his life and enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. In his spare time he enjoyed working on anything with a small engine and frequented power saw competitions. He was also one of the first stock cars to race at the Plymouth track. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Victoreen Hurlburt (Mitchell) and their children, Lisa Hurlburt (Curtis Hamilton), Shelley Hurlburt (Paul Robinson), Robin (Terry) Fletcher; first wife, Loretta Hurlburt; and their children, Darryl Hurlburt (Lynn Miller), Donna (Leslie) Nickerson, Valerie Kinney (Mark Outhouse), Roy Jr. Hurlburt; brother, Curtis (Lorna Hamilton), Deverne (Marion); sister, Geraldine Crowell; grandchildren, Jonathan, Ashlee, Tiffany, Brittany, Dylan, Jacob, Joshua, Sarah, Alana; and 13 great grandchildren. Besides his parents Roy was predeceased by brother, Ernie Hurlburt, granddaughter, Tara-Lea Nickerson, and step grandson Justin. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. There was no visitation by family request. A celebration of Roy's life was held Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 2 p.m. from Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Kevin Myers officiated. Interment will take place at a later date.
