PAYNE, SUSAN MARION
It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Susan Payne of Hanwell, NB on Saturday, March 26th, 2016 at her home. Born on September 21st, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Marion (Howell) Sloan and wife of the late John W. Payne.
In 1974 Sue graduated from the Saint John School of Nursing and dedicated her career to patient care until her retirement in 2014. Even outside of the hospital, she was often found doing what she did best- taking care of others. She created a wonderful life in the Fredericton community, taking great pride in her family, home, and friends. Later in life, Sue discovered some new loves including quilting with the girls, summering at the cottage in Bouctouche, spoiling her three beautiful grandchildren, and embarking on many new adventures with her love, Danny.
She will be forever loved and missed by her children, Stephen Payne (Tanya) of Truro, NS and Jennifer Payne (Jason Gray) of Saint John, NB; her best friend and partner, Danny Critchlow; her grandchildren, Charlie, Anna and Emma Payne all of Truro, NS; siblings, Father Bernard Sloan of Moncton, NB, Carol Sullivan (Tim) of Moncton, NB and Michael Sloan (Teresa) of Bedford, NS; long-time friends, Debby Wood and Mary Forbes as well as many extended family and friends.
Susan was predeceased by her parents and her husband, John.
Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home, 160 York Street on Thursday, March 31st, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Friday, April 1st, 2016 at 12:00 noon. Rev. Monte Peters as celebrant. Interment will take place at a later date in the Hermitage Cemetery.
