Annie Elizabeth "Betty" Dunlap

DUNLAP, Annie Elizabeth “Betty” – 75, Belmont, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday evening, March 28, 2016, at The Mira Long Term Care Centre, Truro. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Mary Ellen (McCormick) Muise. Betty was affiliated with Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church. She loved playing Bingo, reading love stories, ceramics, dancing (and teaching her kids to dance) and watching her favourite television show, Criminal Minds. In earlier years, she worked as a cook at Fletcher’s, Nova Scotia Youth Training Centre, Camp Debert, woods camps and finally at Canadian Automotive Radiator from where she retired in 1994. She adored her K-9 companion, Ginger, and sadly missed her K-9 companion, Jake. Betty is survived by her children, Kevin, Kathy (Brian) Nichols, Diane Dunlap (Ron Wood), Marlene (Clarence) Allen, Kim (Keith) Field, Anita Dunlap (Michel Borst), Russell Jr. (Jen), David (Juli) Dunlap; 22 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Shearer, Gail (David) Wilson, Debbie Rushton, Bonnie (Keith) Staples, Denise (Barry) Nichols, Donna (Eric) Shearer, Janet (Tony) MacFadden; brothers, Ernie (Edith) Muise, Alfred (Shirley) Muise, Arthur (Barb) Muise, Norman (Darlene) Muise, Greg (Colleen) Muise, Robert Muise; several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Russell Erwin Dunlap; sister, Diane in infancy; brothers, David, Paul. Special thanks are extended to the staff of The Mira for their exceptional care of our Mom and for their support to our family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Betty’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, March 31, 2016. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Friday, April 1, 2016, in Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 669 Prince Street, Truro, Father Dariusz Miskowicz officiating. Reception will follow in Campbell Hall. If so desired, donations in Betty’s memory to Canadian Diabetes Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia are welcomed.
