John Donald Walker, after battling cancer for over two years, passed away on March 23 in Kingman, Arizona. He was born in Brighton on March 21, 1943. A beloved son, husband, father, uncle, coach and friend to all people of good will, he served in C Company, 2/187th Infantry, from 1961 - 64, during the war in Vietnam, and worked throughout his adult life as a welder of large water tanks. His wife of 47 years, the former Mary Alvarez, died in her sleep on March 29. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2010. Prior to that she had been a model teacher, mother, aunt, grandmother and mother in law. They are survived by their daughters Trina and Mindy, their son Rylan, a granddaughter, Carolynne, nephews Scott and Kevin Emery, Pat Riley, Ron Ochea, nieces Carla Worden and Debbie Riley, grandnephews and nieces, including Sean, Jack, Anna, and Quinn Emery of Port Wade, and dozens of other nieces and nephews in the US and Mexico. John's sister, Judith Luther Wilder and husband, Marc, live in Victoria Beach and his son Rylan and his wife, Adrienne White, have a home in Bear River. John and Mary's half-brother, Wayne Walker from Massachusetts, Mary's sisters Nadine and Lydia, their son-in-law, Rob, and other relatives including his 95 year old Mother, Virginia Fagan Wiggins, mourn the passing of the devoted couple. John's late father, Frederick Walker, lived in Barton, where John spent the first five years of his life in the care of the late Charlotte Lewis (Spenser). His older brother, James, died in 1961 while serving in the United States Army. John Walker and Mary Alvarez Walker, are remembered with love and gratitude.
