Ninnette Lorraine (Williams) Johnston

Lieu de naissance : Florence
Date de naissance : 12 janvier 1925

Lieu de décès : Sydney
Date de décès : 1er avril 2016

Ninnette Lorraine Johnston would like to let you know that her work here is finished.
On April 1, 2016, she received a call, a sort of offer you cannot refuse, for an appointment from which she will be not returning. It comes with a huge bonus: a reunion with family and friends whom she has not seen in a long time.
Mom was born in Florence, C.B. on Jan. 12, 1925 to Martha and Robert Williams. She was named after the dear little village of “Ninette”, Manitoba. She grew up in a loving family with seven siblings, although all were not living home at that time.
Though her career as a public school teacher was relatively short, she remained a ‘teacher’ all of her life, really. She welcomed many young people into her home and into the life of the family, but never lost the desire nor missed an opportunity to teach them valuable life lessons.
Mom married the love of her life in 1945, Lloyd 'Kip' Johnston of North Sydney. They lived in Sydney, N.S., Lewiston, N.Y., Pittsburgh, Penn. and then moved back home to Sydney in 1976.
She was blessed with many special friendships during her 91 years, especially the Braemar Drive/Sunrise Drive gang!
She leaves behind her children Earl (Ann) Johnston, Sydney, Judith (Stephen) Mansfield, Mississauga, and Linda Johnston (Bill), Halifax; grandchildren, Laura Johnston, (Nick), Halifax, Meghan (Simon) Gough and great-granddaughter, Kenzie, Oakville, Douglas Johnston (Vicki), Halifax, Devon Paige Williams (Scott), Toronto, and two special “almost daughters” Janet Rowe, Halifax, and Pauline Cameron, Sydney. She is also survived by her sister Goldye Lyons, 101 years young, of Pictou and many nieces and nephews.
Mom was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband Kip, sisters Olive, Hazel, Dot and Cavell and brothers Earl and Chet.
Heartfelt thanks to the amazing staff on the Creative Care unit for their love and kindness to our Mom during the almost two years she called it home. You are the best!
Ninnette has been cremated with interment to take place at a later date in Brookside Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
Memorial donations may be made to the Creative Care Unit of The Cove Guest Home, 320 Alexandra St., Sydney, N.S., B1S 2G1 or charity of your choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home.
