It is with great sadness the family announce the sudden death of June (Olton) Saltzman of Saint John, formerly of Public Landing. June passed away surrounded by her loving family at the Saint John Regional Hospital on April 7, 2016. June was born in Saint John in June of 1931; daughter of the late Theophilus and Muriel (Cormier) Olton. June was very active in her church and community including Scouts, Beavers and Friendship Group and an active member of Westfield United Church. Throughout the church she was known as “Mother Superior”. She was a dedicated and devoted wife, mother, nanny, grammy, sister, aunt and friend. June enjoyed skating, bowling, crafts, cooking, auctions and knitting. She is survived by her sons Edward (Marsha) and Mark; daughter Darlene Johnston (Brian) all of Saint John; grandchildren Lester, George (April), Laura (Gerald), Jennifer (Joel) and Kendra (Jordan); great-grandchildren Cameron, Liam, Parker, Tanner and Rosalyn; sisters Muriel Foss (Chester) and Carol Bowes; sisters-in-law Ilene McRae (Gerry) all of Saint John and Carol Olton of Calgary; several nieces, nephews and many friends including special feline friend Patches. Besides her parents, June was predeceased by her husband of 61 years Stanley Saltzman in 2014; brothers Gordon, Charles, William and George and sisters Margaret Moore and Myrtle Fosler.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Sunday April 10, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held from the Westfield United Church, 133 Nerepis Road, Grandbay-Westfield on Monday April 11th at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception. Private family burial to take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Donations in June’s memory can be made to the Westfield United Church Building Fund, Diabetes or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
