HICKS, HARVEY HUDSON
Harvey H. Hicks, 96, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, April 11, 2016. Born in McKees Mills, he was the son of the late Fred and Bertha (Biggs) Hicks.
Harvey was the Owner and Operator of Sunrise Dairy in Moncton. He was a founding member of the group that brought Cable TV to Moncton and co-owner of Brunswick Downs. Harvey was a former County Councillor, Chairman of the NB Dairy Commission, member of the Masons and the Luxor Temple, Past President of the New Brunswick PC Association, Past President of the Beaver Curling Club, Past President of the Moncton Probus Club, member of the Rotary Club of Moncton, member of the Board of Directors of The Moncton Hospital and member of the Gyro Club of Moncton. He was an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan, and he also loved hunting, fishing, golfing, curling and numerous other sports; but first and foremost, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Harvey will be sadly missed by his wife of over 65 years Doris (Wilbur) of Moncton; daughters, Susan Hicks of Moncton, Nancy Ellsworth of Allison, Karyn Hicks of McKees Mills and Barbara Hicks (Donald Evans) of Dartmouth, NS; son, Hugh Hicks (Krista) of Fredericton; cherished grandchildren, Andrew (Ashley), Jeff and Erika Ellsworth, James Evans, Bronwyn Robichaud, Ella and Scarlett Hicks, Hudson and Harrison Hicks; great-granddaughter, Carolyn Ellsworth; brother, Gordon (Phyllis) of Moncton; many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Ethel and Helen; brothers, Roy, Russell, Fred, Lloyd, Calvin and Ken.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Wednesday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. A Service to celebrate Harvey’s life will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 11:00 am. Reception following the service in the Funeral Home Reception Centre. Interment will be held at Hillside Cemetery, McKees Mills.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you direct donations to the Friends of The Moncton Hospital or a memorial of the donor’s choice.
