NORTHRUP, HELEN MAY
It is with great sadness that the family of Helen May Northrup (Wry) of Chipman announces her death at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Hospital on April 12, 2016 at the age of 98. She was the only daughter of the late John and Alberta Wry (Brown).
Helen is survived by her daughters Geraldine Shirley of Chipman; Linda (Keith) of Fredericton; sons Garnet (Kaye) of Port Coquitlam, B.C. and Barry (Bonnie) Chipman, and her half sister Margaret Cormier of Moncton;
12 grandchildren: Greg Mowatt (Karen), Grant Mowatt (Roberta), Ardith Shirley (Junior), Corey Shirley (Lois), Scott Murray (Bonnie), Melissa Bailey (Todd), Shelly LeBlanc (Steve), Tammy Fulton (Zane), Vicki Richardson, Stacy Mowatt (Stan), Steven Northrup (Holly) and Stephanie Goodine (Gordon); 21 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Very special people in her life were Lloyd, Vincent, Violet, Wendy, Rose and Dayna. Also, her beloved and closest companion – her dog Teddy.
She was predeceased by her husband, Eldon Northrup, son Ronald Mowatt, daughter-in-law Diane Mowatt, son-in-law Matthew Shirley and step-brother Clarence Agnew.
In addition, to caring for her family, she worked for the Chipman Hotel, Bricklin Auto (Minto), Fort Nashwaak Motel, Fredericton. When sitting, her hands were always busy knitting, crocheting or making beautiful quilts. Until recently, she made hats for babies in the Neo Natal Unit of the DECH, as well as finger puppets for the children.
She was a member of the Chipman Senior Citizens Group, Ladies Orange Lodge (LOBA #1131) and attended the weekly Thimbles and Threads (Quilting Group).
Pallbearers: Ardith and Corey Shirley, Melissa Bailey, Scott Murray, Stephanie Goodine, Steven Northrup, Shelly LeBlanc, Tammy Fulton, Vicki Richardson and Stacy Mowatt.
A special thank you to Dr. Prendergast, Dr. Hayter as well as the Nurses and staff at the DECH (4NW) for their wonderful care while she was in the hospital.
In keeping with her wishes there will be no visitation or funeral. A graveside service for the family will be held on Friday, April 15, 2:00pm with interment at the United Church Cemetery, Chipman.
Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or the charity of donor’s choice.
