HENRY, EDWINA
At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB on April 16, 2016, Edwina Henry, wife of the late Sterling F. Henry of St. George, NB. Born in Rogersville, NB on December 8, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Leo and Mary (Cyr) King.
A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Edwina is survived by two sons: Danny (Nancy) Henry and James "Scamper" Henry both of St. George, NB; two daughters: Peggy Ann Barry of Caithness, NB and Mary Jane (Mark) Lundy of East Dover, NS; grandchildren: Mark, Shawn and Ryan Henry, Robbie Barry, Stacey Frost, Adam Lundy, Tara Flemming and Haley Lundy; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters: Freda McGrattan of St. George, NB, Rita Goleniec of St. Stephen, NB and Lena Jarvis (Gary Murphy) of Quispamsis, NB; brother: Ronald (Patsy) Roy of St. George, NB; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by one son: Michael, daughter: Theresa; brother: Leon Roy; sister: Jeanette Brown.
Edwina was a caring mother and grandmother not only to her family but to all who knew her. She enjoyed being surrounded by her loved ones, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She liked curling, playing Bingo and cards and also enjoyed music and dancing. A devoted Catholic, Edwina was a longtime member of St. George's Catholic Church in St. George.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at the Saint John Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit. The care and compassion you have shown not only to us but to our mother in her final days will always be remembered with great gratitude.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB. As keeping with Edwina's wishes, there will be no visiting. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. George's Catholic Church, St. George, NB on Wednesday at 11:00 am with Father Rolando Suplido officiating, followed by the interment in the parish cemetery. Immediately following the interment, a public reception will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 40 in St. George and all are welcome to attend.
In Edwina's memory, donations to St. George's Catholic Church, Charlotte County Cancer or to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
