COLPITTS, SHIRLEY AUDREY
January 21, 1927 - April 13, 2016
It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Audrey Colpitts (Whittaker), formerly of the Village of Gagetown and of Oromocto, announces her passing on Wednesday, April 13, 2016.
Shirley passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, aged 89 years, at Embassy Hall, Shannex, Quispamsis, NB. A loving mother, she is survived by Robert (Beverly Russon), Richard (Linda Weir), Samuel (Jeanette Daigle), Shirley (Allen Murray), Thomas, and Mary Lou. She will be fondly remembered by her twenty grandchildren and thirty-two great grandchildren, and by her sister, Doris Hayman, of Saint John and her brother, William Whittaker (Marlene), of Quispamsis.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband of forty-seven years, Edwin Ottie Colpitts, in 1994; as well as her mother, Doris Whittaker; her father, Kenneth Whittaker; and her son-in-law, Gerry Duffy.
Visitation will take place at Oromocto Funeral Home, Winnebago Street, on Tuesday, April 19, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, and 7:00 to 9:00 pm, with funeral service at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 20 at the Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place at a later date in the Pine Grove Cemetery.
Mum loved animals, music, dancing, poetry, and sketching, but most of all, she loved her family. Her cheerful smile and happy, positive outlook made the world a better place for all who knew her.
