Gordon Havervold

On April 11, 2016, Gordon Havervold, of Frontier, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully at Cypress House in Swift Current, Saskatchewan at the age of 88. He was born on November 18, 1927 at the family's farm in the district of Rosefield, Saskatchewan. As a child, he attended Grove Valley School, when it closed in 1940, he went to Rosefield. In 1943 the family moved to the Ridgely District, where he attended and completed high school. As a young man, Gordon learned to operate a D4 Cat on his uncle Johnny Keslering's farm, in the Masefield District, Saskatchewan. With dreams of having a farm of his own one day, Gordon spent the off season working in places such as, Windsor, Ontario, and then relocating to Alberta, where he worked on Seismograph in locations such as Delburne, Ponoka, Hinton and Edson. He also spent time working at the Johnson Sawmill in Pincher Creek, Alberta. He hauled gravel in Lethbridge & Fort MacLeod areas and helped build an elevator annex in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan. He was a kind and giving person, making charitable donations to organizations in the Health Industry where ever he could. With the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, Gordon was determined to stay strong until his final days. He was predeceased by his parents Paul and Veronica Havervold, his brothers Lloyd, Kenneth & Clifford, and sisters Verna McNaught & Diana Miller. He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters and brothers Irene Heggestad (Norman) of Frontier, Robert of Brooks, Alberta, Delores Vasseur (Edward) of Medicine Hat, David (Mia) of Toronto and Dale (Geraldine) of Red Deer, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services were held from Bethel Lutheran Church in Frontier on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Brian Smith officiating. Robin McNaught presented the eulogy. Interment took place at Ridgely Cemetery at Frontier. Arrangements were compassionately organized by Binkley’s Funeral Service. Pallbearers were Shane Havervold, Brett Gordon Havervold, Dale Havervold, Brent Havervold, Brad Havervold and David Havervold.
