William Ward

WARD, WILLIAM "BILL"
It is with great sadness that the family of William "Bill" G. Ward announce his passing on April 19, 2016, after a long and courageous battle with myotonic dystrophy. Bill was born on January 5, 1953, the son of the late Arthur and Elizabeth (Macaulay) Ward.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Shelley (Risk) Ward, his daughters, Jill Russell (Mark), Katie Ares (Andrew), the light of his life, papa’s boys, Carter and Marshall Russell, and his special grandchildren, Izzy and Haley Ares, his sister, Elizabeth Macumber, brother-in-law, Joseph Risk (Christine), and his mother-in-law, Kathleen (Kay) Risk, his sisters-in-law, Betty Ward, Mary Kay Ward and Valerie Ward, several nieces, nephews, friends, and his special furry pal, Molly.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Arthur Jr., Don, Peter Ward and his father-in-law, Billy Risk.
Bill was a Saint John City Police Officer for 35 years, retiring in 2007 as Investigator with Major Crime. Bill enjoyed camping at the Pine Cone, racquetball, golfing with his buddies Tommy McNulty and Tim Dewar, but his passion was car detailing and there were lots of shiny cars in Saint John because of it. Although Bill had a disease that was incurable, he always faced it with courage, a positive attitude and always believed he would beat it! His faith and courage are an inspiration!
