Alice Kitts

KITTS, ALICE
1935-2016
"Whose woods are these, I think I know . . ."
So begins one of Alice (nee Fullerton) Kitts’ favourite poems by Robert Frost, one she quoted often, especially to her children when they were little. Alice Mildred Kitts, 80, of Hillside View Seniors Special Care Home in Moncton, passed away peacefully on April 19th, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Alice, born in Riverside, Albert County, on October 29th, 1935, was the daughter of the late James and Edna (Beck) Fullerton.
Besides her parents, Alice was predeceased by her beloved husband Robert Kitts and her sisters Kathleen Duffy, Marylee Wilson, and Phyllis Steeves.
Alice was a painter and her work hangs on the walls of her family and friends. She was an avid reader, writer and cartoonist, creating numerous personal greeting cards for her family and friends. Her children’s book, Emily of the Bend, was published in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of the City of Moncton.
She appreciated a good cup of coffee and great conversation. Her warm heart and keen sense of humour captured the hearts of all who shared her table (and her table was always full). There was always room for one more kid, one more friend-of-a-friend that she would love as if her own, especially if he or she were a Montreal Canadiens fan. Alice was a die hard Habs fan, which was the proverbial thorn in her beloved husband's side, and Hockey Night in Canada, in her home, was a weekly event.
Her greatest joy in life was her family, who were her pride and joy. She had a special way of making each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren feel as if he or she were her favourite. She will be remembered for her sweet smile and for her gentle and kind ways.
Alice will be deeply missed by her children, Carolyn Wellwood (David) of Burtt’s Corner, James Kitts (Ruth Mitchell) of Hillsborough, Cynthia Cain (Robert) of Riverview, Wendy Kitts of Moncton, Colleen Kitts-Goguen (Cam) of Fredericton and Kim Kitts-Brawn (Danny) of Summerside; her precious grandchildren Kenneth and Neil Wellwood, Karen Smith (Brent), Rory Bray (Rachel), Verna Welling (Mark), Emily Kitts (Nick Hamming), Sarah Cain, Evan, Aidan and Ben Mersereau, William and Andrew Brawn; treasured great-grandchildren Kyle and Cali Wellwood, Nathanael, Aleah, Peyton and Lydia Smith, Christopher and Eric Welling, Owen, Clara and Lily Hamming, and Jacob Cain Henwood. She will also be missed by many special nieces, nephews and brothers-and-sisters-in-law.
Special thanks to Vicki Campbell Ward and the staff of Hillside View Special Care Home whose sincere care and compassion for our mother allowed us to sleep a little easier, trusting she was in the care of true angels.
Alice may be gone but she will live forever in our hearts. Long may her laughter ring...
There are no more miles to go before she sleeps.
Honouring Alice's own wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family graveside service will take place in Hopewell Cemetery, Hopewell Hill, NB. On Saturday, April 23rd, 2016 from 2:30 to 4:30 pm, Alice's daughter Cynthia Cain will host an open house at 775 Hillsborough Road, Riverview, NB, for any who wish to visit with the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick, or the charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements are in the care of the Albert County Funeral Home, 4130 Route 114, Hopewell Cape, NB, E4H-3K2 (506)734-2780 www.albertcountyfh.com
