CRONK, MARY ELIZABETH
My beloved Mother, Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Cronk, passed away at Pine Grove Nursing Home on April 20, 2016, in her 103rd year. She was born on November 22, 1912, in St. Ignace, NB, to the late Frank and Mary Ann (Clancy) Johnson and she was the wife of the late Murray Cronk.
Betty had a full and rewarding life being very passionate about her religion, cooking, family and friends. She was very dedicated to her organizations she belonged to, the CWL and Royal Canadian Legion Br. #93 Ladies Auxiliary. Blessed with a wonderful sense of humour, she will always be remembered for her keen memory and wit. As a military wife, she moved with her husband to several postings across Canada. She worked until retirement at CFB Gagetown for Food Services where she made many cherished friends and wonderful memories. Her warmth and interest in people were exhibited in her ability to keep in touch with these friends in later years. Betty very proudly lived in the family home with her daughter, Jacqueline, until her health declined at the age of 102.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline (Terry) Blackburn of Oromocto, NB; two sisters, Helen Ramsay and Eva Sibley, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Beside her parents and husband, she was predeceased by brothers, Jack, Edward and Robert; sisters, Pauline, Mary and Marie.
Visitation will take place in Oromocto Funeral Home on Sunday, April 24, 2016, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Br. #93 Ladies Auxiliary will hold a tribute at 7 pm. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Oromocto, NB, on Monday, April 25, 2016, at 11:00 am with Fr. Ken Weir and Fr. Antonio Reyes as co-celebrants. A reception will follow in the church hall.
