We, the family of Rosemary Elizabeth Gouthro, regret to announce her passing on Monday, April 25, 2016, in the palliative care unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born July 22, 1926, in Frenchvale, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Agnes (Currie) MacLean.
Rosemary was a member of St. Anthony Daniel parish, Sydney and St. Mary’s parish, Frenchvale. A business owner, she ran a telephone answering service, retiring at the age of 75.
Rosemary is survived by her daughter, Carmella (Casimer) Peinsznski, Dutch Brook; sons, Stephen (Mary) and Gerard, Sydney; sisters, Patsy MacLellan, Sydney, Ann (Brian) Finney, Northside East Bay, Bishie MacInnis, Halifax and Jennie Roch (Joe), Boston, Mass.; brothers, John (Eileen), Pennsylvania and David (Juanita), Toronto, Ont.; grandchildren, Rachel, Jolene, Sandi and Crystal; great-grandchildren, Michael, Madison, Camden, Jaycee, Jade, Mason and Emily.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; son, Michael; sisters, Addie and Ann; brothers, Joe, Charles, Tommy, Johnny and Danny.
Visitation will take place at St. Mary’s Church, Frenchvale on Saturday from 10-11 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m., with Rev. Paul Abbass officiating. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Rosemary can be made to palliative care or St. Mary’s Church, Frenchvale.
