We, the family of Mary Magdalene Covey, age 93, of South Bar, regret to announce her passing on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at Victoria Haven Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born Oct. 4, 1922, in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Eric and Jessie (Mombourquette) Young.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Ida (Paul) MacDougall, New Waterford and Yvonne (Dan) Ryan, Whitney Pier; sons, Walter (Julia), Sydney River, Clarence (Brenda), Sydney, Douglas (Lauree), British Columbia and Sheldon (Phyllis), South Bar; brother, Emmett (Elsie), South Bar; daughters-in-law, Shirley Covey, South Bar and Robin Covey, Manitoba; 20 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur (Dec. 1989); daughter, Patricia ‘Mickey’ (July 1953); sons, Arthur ‘Sonny’ (April 2006), Murdock (April 2006) and Edmond (April 1950).
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Friday 11 a.m., with Rev. Everett McDow officiating. Interment in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Stone Church Restoration Society.
