Helen Thérèse Layden, of Oasis Residence in Dieppe, passed away on Thursday April 28, 2016 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in Elgin, NB, she was the daughter of Michael A. and Margaret (Morgan) Layden.
A graduate of Hôtel-Dieu de l’Assomption School of Nursing, Helen was a registered nurse at the Hôtel-Dieu / Dumont Hospital until retirement. She was a member of St. Augustine’s church.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Dorothy Layden of Mulgrave, NS; three nephews: Michael (Cheryl) of Mulgrave, Murray D. (Susan) of Enfield, NS, and John of Calgary, AB; one great-nice, Kendra Kathleen; two great-nephews: Michael David and Blake; many relatives including special cousin Andrea (Layden) Evans and Father Donald Layden, csc.
She was predeceased by her mother (1972), her father (1973), and her brother, Dr. J. Murray Layden (2006).
By request, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, 300 Dominion Street, Moncton on Tuesday May 3 at 10:30 am. Father Donald Layden will be celebrating. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary cemetery, Dieppe. In memory of Helen, a contribution to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
