At 94 years, two months and 17 days ago Olive Marie McNeil was born in Dominion, to Simon Blowers and Mary (Corbett) Dauphinee.
On this day, April 28, 2016 at 1:21 a.m. she returned to God while in the presence of her loving family. We, the family, are saddened at her passing but we are also very thankful for the many days of her life she shared with those who will continue to love her dearly.
Olive had a great sense of humour. She loved a good sing-song or joke and could yodel with the best of them. Most of all, Olive dearly loved each member of her extended family. She worked hard to provide for those she loved for all her life. She enjoyed a good, lively game of 45’s or cribbage. But, Olive glowed when she knew she held the upper hand.
Olive is survived by daughters Isabel (Fred O’Regan) of Plainville, Mass., U.S.A, Anita (Ray Morrison) of River Ryan; sisters Anita Mahe of Hamilton, Ont. and Lorraine McMullin of Pictou; also surviving are grandchildren Roy (Sandra), Kerry, Lisa (JeanYves), Jeannie (Roddie), Greg, Janet and Katie (Jamie); 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Roy, daughter Maureen, brothers, John and Omar as well as sister, Kathleen.
There will be no wake as per Olive’s wishes. A memorial service will be held in the McLellan Brothers chapel on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating followed by a luncheon at the parish hall, Convent Street, all are welcome. Burial will take place at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 902-862-7500.
Family flowers only. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Maple Hill Manor/Memory Lane fund or to the Nora Huntley Home for the disabled through St. Leonard’s Parish.
