Haley, Edward “Ed” P.
1928-2016
Edward “Ed” P. Haley, 88 years, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at Kenneth E. Spencer Nursing Home on Thursday, May 5, 2016. Born in Moncton on February 6, 1928, he was the son of the late Ernest and Lucy (Gauvin) Haley. Edward was a member of the Moncton Fire Department for 32 years. He attended First Baptist Church. He was a beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Edward is survived by his wife, Marie (Cormier) Haley, married for 66 years; his children, Joan Taylor (Jim) of Riverview, Gary Haley (Mary Jane) of Moncton, Brenda Chevarie (Joseph) of Moncton, Sandra Haley of Calgary, AB and Michael Haley of Moncton; his grandchildren, Stacy Taylor, Julie Jones (Scott), Kris Wood, Karrie Smith (Geoff), Tony Haley, Natasha Babineau (Luc) and Sara Haley; great-grandchildren, Matthew Chevarie, Haley and Jessica Jones and Morgan and William Smith; sister, Loretta Gourley of Moncton, as well as many nieces and nephews. Grampy was a kind and gentle man who was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Janice Wood; by four brothers, Albert, Martin, Norman and George Haley and by three sisters, Doris Woodman, Alice Woodman and Alma Trites.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Monday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. A Service to celebrate Ed’s life will be held at First Baptist Church Moncton, 157 Queen Street, on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 1:30 pm, with Rev. Dr. J. Richard Jackson officiating. Reception following the service. Interment will be held in Elmwood Cemetery.
