George Peacock

Date de décès : 1er mai 2016

It is with heavy hearts we share the passing of our father and grandfather George William Peacock (aka Bill), who passed away suddenly on May 1st, 2016 at the Shaunavon Hospital & Care Centre in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan with family by his side. Bill was born May 15, 1927 in Climax, Saskatchewan. He attended Ridgely School where he was a bright student, however his father died when Bill was just 19 years old and being an only child he went on to take over the family farm. Taking on this challenge at such a young age he applied his knowledge & developed many skills, such as welding, mechanics, working in the fields & taking care of the cattle. On June 16, 1956 he married Doris Gordon in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. They continued to live on the farm where they welcomed the births of their three sons; Calvin, Donnie & Vince. Bill was a hard worker to provide for his family & as his boys grew he enjoyed having them work alongside him on the farm. Bill loved his Lincoln Cars & could often be found driving the countryside from auction sales to bull sales. He was a true cowboy who was never caught without his boots & hat on & always had a story or comment to share. He took pleasure in listening to CBC Radio, gopher hunting, fencing, brandings, playing checkers & whist & later on in life, painting. Thanks to his oldest son Calvin, Bill was able to fulfill his wishes & live out his full 88 years on the family farm. Bill was predeceased by his parents Lizzie & George, his wife Doris & by numerous cousins. He is survived by his children, Calvin (Shannon) of Frontier, Saskatchewan & granddaughter Melissa of Regina, Saskatchewan; Donnie (Kelly) of Swift Current & granddaughters Claire & Jill both of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan & Vince (Jenny) & grandsons Nicholas & Conner all of Edmonton, Alberta; his sister-in-law Gertie Gordon (Joe) & nephew Curtis (Glenna) Gordon & family; his cousin Edna Esselment of Hagersville, Ontario & her family. Bill is also survived by his special companion, his dog Ben. Funeral Services were held at Bethel Lutheran Church in Frontier on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Brian Smith officiating. The eulogy was presented by Donnie Peacock & special music was presented by Jill Peacock with Magna Norheim as pianist. The interment took place at the Ridgely Cemetery followed by lunch at the church. Binkley’s Funeral Service of Shaunavon (www.Binkleys.com) was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Alan Erickson, Bruce Evenson, Mark Evenson, Rodney Evenson, Ryan Evenson & Garry Fossum.
