McHUGH, JAMES MICHAEL
The passing of James Michael McHugh of Fredericton, NB, occurred on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on May 2, 1957 in St. Stephen, NB, he was a son of the late Clarence McHugh and Pearl (Hatt) McHugh.
Jim was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Parish. He was very involved with Special Olympics, participating in bowling, floor hockey and swimming. Jim had a keen interest in photography and enjoyed tracing and coloring pictures. Jim worked for the City of Fredericton, Transit Division through Jobs Unlimited for 18 years. He loved to play Santa Claus at various Christmas parties at work and for the many children in his family. Jim would often be seen in his Santa suit riding the bus and spreading cheer to the many transit passengers, something he thoroughly enjoyed. Jim lived with his sister Jeanne, her husband Ron and their family for over 35 years.
Jim is survived by his sisters, Joyce Casey of Moncton, NB, Jeanne McBride (Ron) of Hanwell, NB, Janet Dempsey (Galen) of Rollingdam, NB and Joanne Knorr (Frank) of Nasonworth, NB; brothers, Bud McHugh (Anne) and Francis McHugh (Carey) both of Saint John, NB; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated from St. Theresa’s Catholic Parish on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 11 am with Father John Jennings as celebrant. Interment will take place in St. George’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, St.George, NB on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 1 pm.
