Crease, Mabel Ann (Heggie)
It is with great sadness the family of Mabel Ann Crease, wife of the late Fred J. Crease, announce her passing, which occurred at the Kingsway Care Centre, Quispamsis, NB on Monday, May 9, 2016. Born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan on April 16, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Heggie, and pre-deceased by her younger brother Allen Heggie.
Early in their marriage Mabel and Fred lived in remote logging camps on northern Vancouver Island and enjoyed many adventures fishing and hunting in the wilderness of BC. Later after moving to New Brunswick they were very involved with the Kennebecasis Valley Minor Hockey Association. Fred served as President of minor hockey for several years and Mabel especially enjoyed running the KV Minor Hockey Canteen. Later Mabel was a co-owner of Canterbury Antiques.
Mabel is survived by her two sons, Arthur Crease (Vera Turnbull) and Douglas Crease.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). As per Mabel’s request there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 16, 2016 at 10:00 AM from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place at Oceanview Cemetery in Burnaby, British Columbia. For those who wish, remembrances in memory of Mabel may be placed to the Canadian Diabetes Association, The Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB, the Kidney Foundation of Canada or the SJ SPCA Animal Rescue.
