WOODS, RODERICK
1945 – 2016
Rod suddenly passed away at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst on May 15th, 2016 at the age of 70, Mr. Roderick “Rod” Benoit Woods of Dalhousie. Born in Dalhousie, he was the son of the late Laura (Guimond) Wood and the late Colin Wood.
Rod loved being surrounded by people and contributing to his community. In his late teens Rod helped form and became President of the Purple Haze Youth Club, the Club helped raise money for the St Joseph Hospital to buy equipment for the blind and other organizations. Purple Haze became very popular at the time for the teens. Rod also worked as produce manager and went on to the Chaleur Inn and worked as a bartender.
He is survived by two sisters: Julienne Guitard (Conrad) of Petit-Rocher, Therese (Marc McIntyre) of Charlo; three brothers: Donald (Jean Babin) of Moncton, Raymond (Helena Paschal) of Moncton, Lawrence (Larry) of Dalhousie and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no ceremony. A private family service will take place at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
