CLAYBOURN, MARVIN G.
With sad hearts, the family of Marvin George Claybourn, announce his passing on Saturday, May 21 2016 at Hospice Fredericton. Marvin was born in Barker’s Point, NB on October 4, 1934, a son of the late George and Daisy (Radcliffe) Claybourn. Marvin was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He was a member of Sunset Church, Fredericton. Marvin was a hard worker all his life. He was a Laborer-Foreman with Maritime Bricklayers for many years and prior to his retirement he was a dedicated and much loved Custodian at Grace Memorial Baptist Church for 20 years. He will be remembered for his gentle and caring spirit and warm smile which endeared him to many over the years. Marvin, in his younger years, was an avid sportsman and especially enjoyed his involvement with sports when it came to coaching.
Marvin was a loving and devoted husband of 46 years to the former Donna J. Hudlin and together they raised two sons, Chris Claybourn (Tina) of Toronto and Dr. Marvin Claybourn Jr. (Chad Efford) of Fredericton. His two grandchildren, Catlin Claybourn of Fredericton and Brianna Claybourn of Toronto always brought him so much joy. He also leaves behind a much loved sister-in-law, Nancy Claybourn of Fredericton and a special chosen sister, Louise Newman as well as numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by brothers William, Winslow, Memory, Ernest, Minchen and Maurice as well as Sisters Phyllis McCarty and Signa Howe.
Marvin’s family will receive visitors at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Sunset Church 429 Clements Dr. Fredericton on Wednesday, May 25th 2016 at 2PM with Pastor Joe Beesley officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in the Sunny Bank Cemetery.
