MacEACHERN, LAVETA (nee O'BLENES) (LeBLANC)
Laveta MacEachern, 83, of Moncton, with her loving family at her side, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, May 23, 2016. Born in Salisbury (the Old Fredericton Road), she was the daughter of the late Christie and Edna (MacLeod) O’Blenes.
Laveta was formerly employed with Marven’s and the T. Eaton Co. Ltd. and retired from Eastern Bakery with over 30 years’ service. She was a member of Lewisville Baptist Church and attended both St. Andrew’s Anglican and Parkside Baptist Church. She was the founder and former President of the Moncton Chapter of P.W.P. Laveta enjoyed spending time at her cottage, Sparky’s Lodge, in Caissie Cape. Her many activities included line-dancing, volunteering, spending time outdoors and travelling the world with her beloved husband, Rae; but her true pride was found in her “six angels” and her many grandchildren.
Laveta will be sadly missed by her husband, Edward “Rae” MacEachern; daughters, Lynn Quinn (Michael Steeves) of Moncton, Bonnie-Lee Robichaud (Gerard) of Edmonton, AB, Darlene Doiron (Ulysse) of Irishtown, Roxanne Maillet (Roy) of Moncton; sons, Wendell LeBlanc (Norma) of Indian Mountain and Jim LeBlanc (Heather Wood) of Riverview; step-daughter, Braunlyn Beaulieu (Terry) of Riverview; daughter-in-law, Luisa MacEachern of Moncton; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Florence Allen and brothers, Vernon O’Blenes, Freeman O’Blenes (Diane), Lloyd O’Blenes (Jackie) and Austin O’Blenes (Wendy); several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Kathleen, Beulah, Eleanor and Pauline and brother, Leo; step-son, Theren MacEachern.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Service to celebrate Laveta’s life will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 11:00 am with The Rev’d Roderick Black officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment will be held in Elmwood Cemetery.
In memory of Laveta, donations to the Parkinson Society or the Elmwood Cemetery would be appreciated by the family.
