Lexie Culham

Lexie Culham

Lexie Irwin (Rennie) Culham was both blessed and a blessing. She lived a life of purpose, kindness and humility, leaving this world a better place for having been a part of it. Mom had a gift. She knew it, and she used it by the sharing and giving of her friendship and her musical talent. Her first piano was a gift from a neighbor in her hometown of Abbey. Certainly, it was not something her parents could have purchased in the 1930’s. What an impact that gift had on one young girl’s life, not to mention the many that have been touched by her music. Mom was the Cabri United Church pianist for almost 70 years. Bringing her music to church was her way of worshipping. She felt blessed to be a part of that special family. Mom was a caring and loyal friend, selflessly sharing her time and giving her support through laughter and tears. In 2010, she was awarded the Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal, presented to her by the Governor General. She felt honored, and even more so because it was school children that had put her name forward as someone so deserving of the recognition. As part of our family Mom advised, comforted, encouraged, supported and leaned on us. She was always up for a game of crib, a good-paced walk, a challenging conversation or being together in quiet times. Mom took great pride in her home and yard, loved to shop, and had a thirst for knowledge. She was eager to learn something new whether it was a new computer program or the stock market. She was an exceptionally vibrant 87 year old, enjoyed being a part of anything (everything!) life held, and was looking forward with excitement to her new life in Riverview Estates. Lexie was predeceased by her husband Bert; a grandson, Ryan; her brother, Jack; and by her sister, Shirley. She is survived by her four daughters, Michelle, Marla, Marcia (Dwight), Melane, and their families; and by her sister, Cleo Ann McLeod. Where words leave off..........the music begins. Play and rest in peace Mom.
The Funeral Service was held on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 2:00 pm from the Cabri Community Hall with David Hagel officiating. “Make Me a Channel of Your Peace” were sung by the congregation.
