Linda McBride
Date de décès : 4 juillet 2016
Linda Lorraine McBride, (68) passed away suddenly at home on July 4th, 2016. Married to her husband, Milton McBride, for 45 years, Linda is survived by her husband, her children, Aaron (Sara), Shannon (Rick), Chris (Maren), her grandchildren Falon (19), Machail (13), Ashton (12), Ethan (3), Paige (12), and Payton (10), and her beloved pet, Piper. She was predeceased by her mother, Gladys, father, Gerald, and grandson, McCade. Born in Rosetown, SK, to Gerald and Gladys Dykes, Linda spent her childhood years traveling across Canada and throughout Europe with the highlights being her years spent in Greenwood, NS and Germany. After returning to Saskatchewan upon the passing of her mother, Linda met, fell in love and married Milton McBride in 1971. Linda was employed with the RCMP as an administrative assistant for several years before deciding to stay at home for the next ten years, devoting her time to raising their children. Many fond memories involve camping and boating at Buffalo Pound Park and travelling the province to name just a few. Never one to stay still for long, Linda decided to return to the work force and became employed as an administrative assistant in the Court Services Department for the Moose Jaw Police Force where she remained until retirement in 2009.Anyone who knew Linda would agree that she was a fire cracker. To describe her as an active member in the community is an understatement. From her years spent with the Wakamow Rotary Club to the hours donated volunteering at Dance Festival, Linda was one who could be counted on without fail. It were these attributes of determination and perseverance that led to her new passion, running. What started as 10Ks led to more and more distance until Linda was convinced to run the Regina marathon and the Chicago marathon in 2012, qualifying in each race for the Boston Marathon in 2014. Besides her passion for running, Linda also enjoyed traveling, shopping, skiing, shopping, gardening (no day was ever too hot for her), shopping and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Linda never missed a hockey game, dance competition, baseball game, or track meet and could also be counted on to be the loudest cheerleader there (relying on her years spent as a Saskatchewan Roughriders’ cheerleader). Linda’s zest for life was second to none. She lived life to the fullest and never met an obstacle she could not tackle. Her positive attitude and bright smile made her a friend to all…although her love to “visit” also helped in this area. Her “glass is half full” attitude is something her children and grandchildren will strive to maintain in the years to follow. A Celebration of Linda’s Life will be held Friday, July 8th from 1:30 - 3:30 at Minto United Church. Tribute to Linda’s life will start at 2:00 pm. Refreshments to follow. For those who loved running like Mom did, a group run is scheduled for that morning at 8:00 a.m. and will meet at the YMCA entrance at Crescent Park. All are invited to attend. Memorial donations in memory of Linda may be made to the Rotary Club of Moose Jaw Wakamow. In living memory of Linda, a memorial planting will be made by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
