Frank Raymond James Honey of Shaunavon and formerly of Bracken left us for Heaven on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Shaunavon Hospital & Care Centre. He was born at Shaunavon, Saskatchewan on January 4, 1919 to Edith & James Honey of the Canuck district. At the age of 17 years he began working for the PFRA on irrigation and land leveling projects in the Eastend, Val Marie, Manyberries and Swift Current areas. In 1942 he joined the RCAF and worked as an airframe mechanic in Ontario and Alberta. Upon discharge he married Helen Potter also in the RCAF in Calgary, Alberta on June 9, 1945. He loved machinery and farming, something both his sons inherited and continued to farm in the Bracken district into his nineties. He ran a substation for the Experimental Farm Program and served on the Bracken town council for many years. They moved to Shaunavon in 1968. Raymond loved music and played the accordion from an early age. He played for dances up until the 1990?s. He and Helen enjoyed many years of square and round dancing as well. Raymond curled in his younger years. The family enjoyed a cabin at Cypress Park for over 30 years as well. Raymond was predeceased by his wife Helen of 65 years in 2010, his son-in-law David McInnes in 2004, a son Norman in infancy, his parents and two sisters. He is survived by his children Lyn McInnes, Gregory (Linda Sue), Glenn (Linda Ann), Janice (Ken) Billington, and Christine (Lawrence) Amon, seventeen grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was buried in a private family ceremony on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Bracken Cemetery with Dallas Block officiating. A memorial service was held at Christ the King R. C. Church in Shaunavon on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Alliance Pastor Dan Esau officiating. Binkley's Funeral Service of Shaunavon (www.Binkleys.com) is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial donations can be made to Shaunavon Hospital and Care Centre, Long Term Care or Samaritan's Purse.
