ROACH, Cecil Paul – Age 93, of Yarmouth, passed away on July 8th, 2016 in Treasured Memories Senior Residence. Born on June 22, 1923 in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late William Henry and Hariette (LeBlanc) Roach. Cecil was a veteran of WWII (Air Force). He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 61, Yarmouth. He was a meat cutter by trade and worked at Moses Meat Market for several years and then Sobeys in Yarmouth. Cecil was an avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays. He was a wood carver (inlaid work), stamp collector since a young boy, big interest in antiques and had several budgies over the years. His present budgie talks and is named “Gabby”. He is survived by his daughters, Paulette, Diana, Charmaine, Susan (Jim), Debbie (Larry), all of Yarmouth; Anne Marie (Jim), Prospect Village; Kathy (George), Halifax; son, Mike, Victoria, B.C.; brothers, Bill and Clifford, Yarmouth; Jim (Julie), Dartmouth; Patrick, New Glasgow; sister, May, Yarmouth; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild, Charlie. Aside from his parents, he is predeceased by his wife of 72 years, Hilda (Jensen) Roach; a son, David; grandson, Jimmy; several brothers and sisters. Funeral arrangements were under the care and direction of H.M. Huskiklson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth where a visitation was held from 7-9 p.m., a Legion Service at 7:30 p.m. and prayers at 8 p.m. on Monday, July 11th in the funeral home in Yarmouth. A funeral service was held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 12th in Huskilson's Memorial Chapel, Yarmouth, Father Henry Smolenaars officiated. A burial was held in Mountain Cemetery, Yarmouth.
