Lieu de décès : Truro, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada
Date de décès : 2 août 2016

Evelyn Mae Clark, age 85, of Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro, NS., passed away peacefully on August 2, 2016. Born in Milton, Queens County, NS, Evelyn was the eldest daughter of the late Roland and Celesta Kempton of Milton, NS. She was a graduate of Milton High School and Bridgewater Business College. Prior to marriage she was employed at the Scotiabank in Bridgewater and later as secretary to the Manager of Hollingsworth and Whitney Ltd, a forestry company in Bridgewater, NS. After her marriage to Vincent Clark of St. Stephen, NB in 1951 and the birth of their first child, she decided to dedicate her life to running her home and the care of her family. She became very active in community affairs after the family settled in Truro in 1954. Evelyn was the main organizer, founding member, and later President of the Truro Ladies Curling Club formed in 1960. She was the first President of the Truro School Bands Auxiliary formed in 1966 and was responsible for getting the Truro Schools Band ready for their invitation to perform at Expo ’67 in Montreal. She was a charter member of the Isgonish Chapter of the IODE where she served two terms as Regent; as well, she was a member of the Truro Historical Society and played a major part in the establishment and operation of the Truro Historium. She was a member of the First United Church in Truro. She and her husband travelled extensively after their retirement, enjoying Europe, Scotland, Ireland and several trips to England. Her nephew treated her to many spring trips to our west coast where they journeyed, laughed and enjoyed each other’s company. Adored and affectionately called Mimi by all her grandchildren she was very involved and nurturing in their lives and so very proud of each and every one. Evelyn’s quiet kindness, her conduct, appearance and stanch family loyalty were all wonderful examples to live by. Her love of the ocean, where she spent each summer with her whole family, has been instilled in us all forever. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (Thomas) Burlock of Truro, NS; grandson Denym Burlock of Simcoe, Ont; granddaughter Jaclyn (Ret Mstr Corp Shannon) Thibodeau of Lwr Sackville, NS; beloved great grandsons Jayden and Torin Thibodeau; sisters Barbara (Tom) Moffatt of Bridgewater, NS; Shirley Smith of Port Alberni, BC.; brother Walter (Alice) Kempton of Port Alberni, BC.; special nephew William Smith of Nanaimo, BC; several in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
