It is with great love and sadness that we announce the passing of Roy Arnold Teal, on Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, at the age of 70. Born May 10, 1946, in Bridgewater, N. S., he was a son of the late Russell and Belle (Boehner) Teal. Roy worked in various positions with Maritime Tel & Tel, retiring as general manager of business services. Being very community oriented, he enjoyed volunteering with the various sports in which his children were involved and was also a member of Cole Harbour United Church. Roy is survived by his wife, Gwen (Stewart); daughters, Andrea (Kevin) Gray, Timberlea and Jennifer (Allan) Gallant, Gabarus; son, Kyle (Shelby), Dartmouth; grandchildren, Colby, Kendall and Chase Gray, Allison and Samantha Gallant; sister, Donna (Don) Davidson, Onslow; brothers, Billy (Dawn), Crousetown and Charles (Mary), Broad Cove. He was also a beloved and respected uncle to his nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Roy was predeceased by his brother, Lester. A very special thank you to Dr. Ron MacCormick, Dr. Paul Murphy, the staff at the Cape Breton Cancer Center, 4A, palliative care, as well as all our family and friends who supported Roy throughout his life. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Friday, August 12 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, August 13 at 1 p.m., with Rev. Lydia MacKinnon officiating. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery, Gabarus. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Center at the CBRH, Gabarus Volunteer Fire Department or a charity of your choice.
