JOHN DOUGLAS CROSBIE
June 20, 1925 – August 9, 2016
Doug Crosbie passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 9, 2016 at the age of 91 years. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 37 years Edith; children Connie (Stuart) Holtan, Ronald Crosbie; stepchildren Mark (Rhonda) Elliott, Charlene (Rodney) Stapleton and Lynda (Rick) Stykel; eleven grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother Earl (Joan) Crosbie; brother-in-law Stan Martin; sister-in-law Joyce Crosbie as well as many close relatives and friends. He is predeceased by his parents Herb and Frances Crosbie; siblings Betty, Milt, Gord and Fran. Doug grew up the farm in the Caron District before joining the Military in 1943. After serving overseas in WWII he was discharged in 1946. He returned to Moose Jaw and worked for Sasktel for 33 years retiring in 1979. He was an active member of the Elks Lodge and the Royal Canadian Legion. Doug was an avid golfer achieving a hole in one. In later years he enjoyed playing pool with friends. He enjoyed travelling extensively with Edith including destination to Europe and Australia. He also would spend many hours warming the benches of his grandchildren’s sporting events. A Service of Remembrance will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel, 106 Athabasca St E. on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 1:30PM. Della Ferguson will officiate. Interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. For those wishing memorial donations may be made to a Charity of One’s Choice. In living memory of Doug, a memorial planting will be made by W. J.
