It is with broken hearts that we the family, of Kevin G Rowe, announce his sudden passing on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 in Cape Breton. Born in Olds, Alberta on Feb 3, 1976, he is the son of Gerard and Mary (O’Neill) Rowe of Sydney, Nova Scotia. While Kevin was well travelled spending time or working in places like South America, Armenia, North West Territories and the Yukon, he returned to Cape Breton recently to discover the “home of his heart”. Kevin was inspired by the beauty of the Bras d’Or Lakes, the simplicity of life on the Island and the strong family ties that are so imbedded in the Cape Breton culture. Kevin was extremely passionate about his career as a mining safety consultant and very often would engage others in the significance of safety in the mining industry. Kevin had a passion for animals, particularly dogs and enjoyed a multitude of hobbies including snowboarding, rock climbing, motorcycling, camping, white water rafting and most recently developed a love of sailing, particularly on the Bras d’Or Lakes. Left to mourn his untimely passing are his loving parents, Gerard and Mary; sister, Gwen Tassone (Greg Turner) Toronto, ON; niece, Alanna Tassone, Alberta and brother, Chris Rowe, Alberta. Also left to mourn are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Kevin is predeceased by both paternal and maternal grandparents, Wesley and Cecilia Rowe, Tom and Anne O’Neill, also aunt Sister, Gloria O’Neill, and uncle, Joseph O’Neill.
Family flowers only, in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the local chapter of the SPCA or Litters ‘N Critters Rescue Society of Nova Scotia in Kevin’s memory. Visitation will be held at Chant’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 from 7- 9 p.m. with funeral mass at 11a.m. Thursday, September 1, 2016 at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Catholic Church in Sydney.
