Jo-ann Steele 54 of Glace Bay, passed away suddenly at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Sunday, August 28, 2016. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of John R. Steele and the late Deborah (Littlewood). She was a member of Holy Cross Church and worked in the Glace Bay area her whole life. She was known for her kindness and big heart and she loved to have a laugh. Jo-ann was predeceased by baby Tiger, her special cat. Jo-ann is survived by her husband, John McCarthy (Boozie); children, John John, Darlene and Kevin; sisters, Diane (Les), Donna Thomas (Francie); brother, John Wayne Reid (Laura) and many nieces and nephews; John R. McNeil her God son. There is no visitation by request. A funeral mass will be celebrated on 11 a.m. Friday, September 2, at Holy Cross Church. The Rev Norman MacPhee will be officiating. The interment will follow in St Mary’s Anglican Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. ‘When the golden sun is setting And the path no more you trod May your name in gold be written In the holy book of God.’
