Ella Mae McNeil

Surrounded by her family, Ella Mae (Facey) McNeil, of Water Street, Westville passed away in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow on Saturday, August 27, 2016 two days before her 89th birthday.
Born August 29, 1927 in Fox Brook, Pictou County, she was the eldest child of the late Gordon and Mary (Fleming) Facey.
She worked as an ammunition inspector at Trenton Works during the Second World War; at the Lewis Hat Factory in Truro and was a PCW for 12 years at Valley View Villa Nursing Home, Riverton.
She is survived by daughters: Marilyn (Sandy) Stephenson, New Glasgow; Lee (Tim) Cleveland, MacLellans Brook; son, John McNeil, Westville; 2 grandsons, Todd Stephenson, Halifax; Aaron (Tracey) Stephenson, Riverview. NB; 3 great grandchildren, Nathan and Ben, Riverview, NB and Ella (her mother Danielle Crofts-Stephenson), Halifax; sisters: Dorothy Fraser, Salem; Mildred Facey (Peter Ticci), Montreal; brothers, Gordon, Ontario; Doug, Ontario; and Chuck (Carol Lambert), Pictou Landing.
She was predeceased by her husband John Henry; infant son Garry; sisters-in-law, Katherine Facey; Gwen Facey and brother-in law, Earl Fraser.
The family wishes to thank the VON for the excellent home care; Dr. Jota; Dr. Kwasnik and all the nurses and staff of Palliative Care Unit; 4th floor south; and 5th floor south for their kindness and compassion provided to Ella and her family. The family also extends a special thank you to David and Charlene Canning and Karen O’Laney.
Honouring Mom’s wishes, she did not want visitation or funeral service and has donated her body to Dalhousie Medical Science. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Donations in her memory to the Pictou County SPCA would be greatly appreciated.
