It is with deep sympathies that we announce the passing of our dear mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great aunt and friend Martha at the age of 81, on September 10, 2016 at Alderwood Rest Home. She was born in Ottawa Brook, NS and she was the daughter of the late Dan Angus and Margaret (MacNeil) MacDonald. She was a member of St Columbia Parish Iona. She is survived by sons, Brain MacKenzie, Hazeldale, Glen (Bonnie) MacKenzie, Leitches Creek and Bernie (Nancy) MacDonald, Eastern Passage; sister, Christine MacDonald, Little Narrows; Grandchildren, Russell MacDonald, Eastern Passage Jenna MacKenzie, Leitches Creek; Niece, whom she had a special bond Linda MacDonald, Neighbours who were wonderful to her John MacKenzie and Jessie MacKinnon; Special Friend, Edna MacInnis and many loving nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Glen MacKenzie; sisters, Theresa, Rita, Sadie, Mary, Betty, Louise, Flora and Brothers, Dan James, Johnny, Mickey. Family would like to thank the staff at Alderwood, the homecare workers and Dr Caryle Chow.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at St Columbia Parish Iona on Wednesday Sept 14 2016, Funeral Will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at St Columbia Parish with Rev Paul Abbass officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, MacKinnon Harbour. Donations may be made to the charity of one’s Choice. Arrangement under the direction of MacAskill Funeral Home, Baddeck NS.
