Fred’s family are saddened to announce his passing at St. Paul’s Hospital on October 5, 2016 with his family by his side. Fred is survived by his wife Stella (nee Hughes); his son Anthony and his wife Helen (nee Smyth), their family – Aileen Patterson, Luke Patterson, Christine Patterson (Andrew Robinson) and their two children Arya and Leif Robinson, and Aiden Patterson of Newfoundland; his daughter Colleeen Patterson and her husband Phil Foster, and their two children, Adam and Alex Foster of Saskatoon. He is predeceased by his parents Courtney and Margaret Josephine; his brothers – William, Courtney and David and his sister Geraldine. Fred was born in Bushmills, Northern Ireland, UK and raised in Belfast. He was trained as marine engineer and served in the British Merchant Navy until 1963, Fred married Stella in 1962 and emmigrated to Canda in 1963. He initially worked in Manitoba but settled in Saskatchewan in 1966. He retired from the Department of Labour in 1991. Fred was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and the Downtowners Opitimist Club of Regina. Fred was a pssionate Lawn Bowler and Cribbage player. He will be rememberd as a loving grandfahter, DIY Disaster Fixer and Commond Sense Distributor. A service to celebrate Fred’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016 and the Chapel of the Saskatoon Funeral Home. Those so wishing to make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in his memory would be appreciated by the family in lieu of flowers.
