We the family of Dorothy Harrietha, sadly announce her passing on Saturday October 8, 2016 at the Cove Guest Home Sydney. Born in Sydney Mines on April 3, 1933 she was the daughter of the late Tom and Ann (Johnston) Peddle. She was a loving wife,mother and grandmother.
She always enjoyed hopping, bingo, bowling and darts. In her later years she resided at Miners Memorial Manor and Cove Guest Home where she enjoyed many hours of dining out and shopping with her girls, Lorna and Heather, granddaughter, Kira and great grandchildren, Quintin, Paiton and great-great grandson Colten. Leaving behind to mourn are Dorothy’s seven children, Debbie (Peter) MacDonald, Guelph, Ont., Mary-Lou Harrietha, Guelph ,Ont., Lorna Capstick, Sydney Mines, Danny (Mary) Harrietha, Sydney Mines, Heather(Leo) Bungay, Alder Point, Vince (Sherry) Harrietha, Fort McMurray, Shane (Michelle) Harrietha, Cambridge, Ont. and brothers, Arma Peddle, St. Pete's, Florida, John (Glenda) Peddle, North Sydney and Bill Johnston, Ontario. Also, her 17 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband Alex; brothers, Robert and Tom and sister, Lorna. A memorial mass celebrating Dorothy’s life will be held Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church Sydney Mines with Fr Jim Oliver officiating with a reception to follow at the parish hall. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Alzheimers society or a local charity of choice.
